OK.. you first. :) 500 miles wouldn't be too hard, with a road bike, but not if you have to work 50+ hours too. 1000 is just daft/pointless/probably miserable experience

You should build your road bike Matt. Would be a nice change from the same boring offroad routes you end up pounding everyday :)
