Should Have Had Some Breakfast

07 Aug 2008 at 12:59

I woke to find the sun shining, the house, warm, and little chance of the 8:50 downpour, there was only one thing I wanted to do... RIDE.

I elected to to use my normal route, but with the sections in a different order to see if it made an difference to time, speed, pain or distance. On heading out I was shocked to find it wasn't windy (yet).

It was odd to be on parts of the normal route an hour earlier than usual the light falls differently and the temperatures are lower. And all the normal people I pass were missing.

I did come across a familiar being on the last part of section 2, it was Simon, on *his* Pink Surly (he took a picture of me which makes me look like very thin), oh the trauma of turning up at the party wearing the same dress, but no matter we survived and after a brief pause headed off in different directions. I spied him again later on, but I was pedalling on empty by then.

Sections 2,3 and 4 went off as normal, but that left section 5, which is usually section 1 still to do, by this time I was stuffed, completely unprepared for doing a 40 miler - skipping any breakfast, just half a pint of water. Jamming a mars bar in a back pocket would have been more than a clever idea, however, being a dumbass that was far beyond me. So I suffered though the last section, and headed home, covering a disappointing distance of 41.9 miles at 12.5mph.

I'm hungry and sleepy now.

I was going too quickly for you to catch?

15:43 07 Aug

No, you were stopped outside the Lower Barn ;)

15:52 07 Aug

That was ice cream time :)

19:02 07 Aug

Dude you look thin! Are you eating right?

19:24 07 Aug

Yeah, the camera has added 50lbs. You're even thinner than in the pic :)

19:31 07 Aug

Noo, it's a special ladies camera designed to remove 50lbs from the subject.

clever... with thinking like that it'll sell millions.

21:41 07 Aug

I like that idea for a camera ;)

Now how does this report make any sense when I don't know where section 1, 2 etc are?

What god awful shorts.

Should we organise a care package for Matt of Complan, pies and Beer?

10:42 08 Aug

Horrid shorts Matt.

Should we organise you a care package of Complan, Pies and Beer?

13:21 08 Aug

CHEAP shorts, Dan.

I don't spend more than 8 quid on them, seeing as I destroy about 5 prs a year.

I'd pay money for some good ones, but no one makes any.

14:29 08 Aug

Not sure what happened there with the double posting.

01:27 09 Aug

you look thin...because you ride like all the time and are thin, although that is a bad shot.

13:06 09 Aug

Wide angled lens, innit.

Maybe I am thin, I've lost abou 10kgs in year.
