That Sinking Feeling

11 Mar 2008 at 12:56

PINCHFLAT NUMBER NINE!

rear today, so that's now 5 front 3 rear pinchflats in 28 rides. I over compensated with the fresh tube and BOY could I not keep the back end anywhere close to under control.

Then it rained a lot.

I am definitely cursed.

Learn to ride with the tyres pumped up harder or get someone to make some downhill gayer tyres :)

Or learn to pick better lines. Don't even consider taking your pompino offroad, you'll be pinch flatting every couple of hundred yards the way you ride :)

Todays flat WAS from the better line.

The tyres do seem quite flimsy, but I don't really want to add more weight, but I guess a stronger tyre with a less soft grip might work.

Oh and if I have anymore than 30psi in the tyres I get a really bad headache from the constant battering.

You need a Zorro then.

Well you're going to have to compromise somewhere otherwise you'll be spending more time mending tubes than riding!

I appear to have picked a bad time to ride today.

I know, I'm going to try DH tubes and a little more air, I think some air fell out somewhere today, as the back end was wobbly, dunno.

At least my new pump works.

I'd quite like a URT 29er with track ends and a fork with 60mm of travel :)

I suspect that there's quite a small market for them :)

Yup, just me, because I'm worth it.

Apart from it being ugly and made out of the wrong material and whishy washy designed to run 2 tyre sizes and stupid dropouts I'd have one.
Sit down cushy.
Stand up snappy.

I missed this earlier but how does 5 front and 3 rear pinchflats equal 9?

I followed the link to look at the Zorro, how I wish I hadn't!

Ah it's supposed to be PUNCTURES 9 , PINCHFLATS 8

Well you should have written that then :)

I've just taken a chunk out of my thumb on a chainring whilst undoing the bolts :(

Other than the Halo's I can't actually think of a 29er that's actually that sturdy.

I'm a bit shocked you went 29er I'd have been tempted to stay 26" and used something with a heavy duty sidewall like Maxis and run them tubeless.

Hope you find something that works for you I'm at a loss really especially as Kenda are some of the more sturdy 29er tyres....

I'm going to fill the tyre with pipe lagging ;)

i'm just shocked you get so many puntures full stop!

maybe try the panaracer rampage (if you can get hold of it...), i think that's more of an all mountain tyre,in comparison to other 29er stuff
?

Yeah, I might just get a selection, there only seems to be about 4 proper 29er tyres!

For the love of Pete will you just but a BIT more air in your tires! Sheesh!
