Toad the Wet Sprocket

12 Aug 2007 at 14:20

Back to soggy riding again today, I managed to avoid complete saturation until th last 10 mins when I had to ride from one side of a tremendous rainstorm to the other on the way home.

Dropping the stem 3/4 inch seems to have helped a bit, my first decent from the Pike was very slow as the mist was so heavy I couldn't see where the water bars and big stones were, second time around was mich better, although I'm still not used to having suspension forks!

30.5 miles, very heavy rain, cool, slippery, v windy.

It's 2pm now, I wonder how TwinklyDave and LessTwinklySimon got on at SITS.

Rumour has it Simon did 12 laps and whipped Daves backside as he only did 10.

Does that result make Simon twinklier (it's a technical term) than Dave?

Dave did a stupid number of laps (27?) and was the final finisher after riding past us lurkers just before 2pm. Think he was 6th. Having seen him at the presentations I suspect that he's still asleep. I did 12 which was the target I set at the start. Reckon I could have done more if I wasn't so lazy.

Darn Simons turned up to spoil my rumour.
It was half true.

Bah, Simon's not twinkly, he's roobosh. If he'd done a proper number of laps he'd still be asleep, not posting on here ;)

When I saw Tom's first message I had to go outside to check that the world hadn't broken.

Blimey last year Dave was 6th and did 21 laps, this year he was 6th and did 27.

I'm assuming the laps were shorter?

Less muddy.

OH yeah, sorry, I assumed this weekend was muddy!

Nope, pretty much bone dry (I was asleep in my tent when it was raining)

Good work, that's how I always ended races :)
