1 Year of Wind

01 Aug 2007 at 14:11

It's now been 1 year since the wind started to become an issue on every ride.

Today's were absolutely perfect to make the Roadster ride like a greasy pig on a water slide.

I almost piled into a traffic island at 35mph when I lost any steering ability down a short sharp hill and the bike nicely started to drift towards the center of the road, I only missed the kerb by 6-8inches in the end.

There must me a reason how there can be no wind if you're still, yet at 20mph its like you're pedalling though glue, it never used to be like this, maybe it's something to do with high or low pressure? I do know it' still pretty cold, even pushing myself (av 19.92) I didn't get even close to breaking into a sweat, and there was very high wind resistance in all directions (21mph max in the wind, 25mph max out of it)

I'm glad I didn't spend a few thousand on a new road bike back in April, this summer's been the worst for a long long time.

And I am definitely getting a new road bike for 2008, which gives me about 8 months to choose one and buy parts.

48miles, which means as of this moment I have done 11,030 miles in the last year - which, in retrospect, was an entirely pointless thing to have done. :o)

11030 miles in 12 months is bonkers, more than twice as far as me.

That's because you're doing 20mph. Ride slower, it's less windy :-)

Funny, Mike.
20mph isn't very fast, and never used to be this hard / noisy.
