Film Roundup

17 Jul 2007 at 18:06 Filed Under:

I've watched a few films recently - here's my opinion on some of them.

Bridge to Tarabetia

Despite being a kids movie, I really enjoyed this, perfectly good movie, ticks the boxes of entertaining, interesting and fun.

Mark Wahlberg stars in this, he's better at acting than he was at singing. It's actually a good movie, lots of shooting things and stuff. worth watching.

The Contract

Morgan Freeman and John Cusack run around in this one, firing guns and the like, people fake-die, after being shot with fake-guns in fake-buildings. Like "shooter" kinda worth watching it's not as bad as ...

Horrible, horrible, horrible film. You know when a film's going to be bad when there's only 7 cast members, this is just poor, not scary really - sorry I meant to say "not scary ATL ALL", the only good bit is Elisa Cuthbert looks nice in it, but even that doesn't save this pointless film... to think, something great wasn't made because this was - guff. The most torturing thing about this film is watching it. "I bet he has a knife behind his back" --reveals knife -- "Gosh! I didn't see that coming"

The Astronaut Farmer

I LOVED THIS! it had a rocket in it and a story where you gun for the underdog... did I mention the rocket? Great

The Zodiac

Nicholas Cage should quit making movies and just destroy his life like in Leaving Las Vegas. the only good thing was the ending credits... oh and Jessica Biel.

Little Miss Sunshine

Another enjoyable film, funny in the way that Sideways is funny. Nice. A Sunday afternoon-type film.

Smoking Aces

Despite lots of holes in the plot and some major distortion of reality, a good film, guns, bangs, guns, more guns, more guns and a few more guns. Lots of good actors in it.. and Ben Affleck.

What's Eating GIlbert Grape

SIMPLY SUPERB, Johnny Depp is usually a good indicator to a film's juicyness (except Pirates 2 and 3). Juliet Lewis and Leonardo Dicaprio also manage to act quite well, to be fair Dicaprio has grown into a decent actor, but Juliet Lewis hasn't got any less irritating over time. This DVD was also onlt £2.84 - super!

Blood Diamond

Dicaprio again, not killing the South African accent as bad as Tim Robbins in "Catch A Fire" - definitely worth watching.

Catch A Fire

Another South Africa based film, like Blood Diamond but this time about the apartheid.

Blimey, that's loads of films! The last one I saw was the new superman one, quite enjoyed it.

"Lots of good actors in it.. and Ben Affleck." - this tickled me.

Ha ha! How funny that we both did movie posts!

I've only seen Gilbert Grape from your list and that was years ago (I think it was on VHS!) so don't remember much other than it being quite depressing.

Shooter, Little Miss Sunshine and Catch The Fire are on my list of films to watch but Next has been removed following your glowing report!

I've not seen any of those films.

They must all be shit

You need to watch more.
Tesco is ace for films, there's loads of good ones for £3 at the moment. I was trying to resist, but an unexpected payrise might be converted into spinny discs of cinematic pleasure.

I bought Gremlins, The Karate Kid and Airplane in Woolworths for £9 the other day :)
