Milestone #5 of the Week

AKA, My personal stage from Hell

Inspired by the sun actually showing itself for to the first time in ages and an afternoon watching the first proper stage of the TdF, I grabbed the Roadster and hit the blacktop to grab my 2,000th road mile this year.

I knew it was windy from this morning's ride and a trip to the supermarket, but the sun must have added to the strength of my nemesis and it was hell.

I made the mistake of defending my 'never been dropped' record on the road when a MK Cycles rider cruised past me just before Jolly Tar Lane, I cranked it hard ot retake my position at the Tete de la Course, then I tried to open a large gap unfortunately this required forcing 20mph out of my legs into directly into the wind from hell.

I kept my record, but clearly over did it and 45 mins from the end of the ride I blew up completely and had to limp back (into the wind again - not sure how that happens) at an embarrassingly slow speed with my head almost bouncing off my handlebars.

I'm going to eat lots of ice cream now... I've earnt it. (45miles - 87 for the day.)

Good job you didn't run into me or you'd have lost your record :)

On the way back maybe, I crawled at about 12mph from skew bridge to home (via your road), legs blown, body fuzzy, hurt like crap.

From Southport Pier to the M6 I was doing well over 20mph and then I caned it back through Chorley at 25mph :)
