I really put my body though the wringer today. I was knackered from the get go, and with a strong wind the day wasn't going to be all that much fun, so I settled for punshing myself until mt whol body ached.

And BOY! did it ache!

So much my eye lids hurt!

Days of hurt are outnumbering days of nonhurt a lot at the moment, the relentless wind never gives you a chance to relax so you just have to dig in and grind away.

2008 better be less windy!

41.2 miles (12mph avg) | V Windy, Mild, Humid, Very Very Tiring.

First ride over 40miles for the KHS - finally!

Gosh! Sunshine!

It was actually nice weather today, a touch of strong wind, but it was nice to not need long sleeves!

Summer's Back!

KHS Single Speed Rivington

It's good to see summer back in full swing, birds in the trees, sun in the sky, hot hot hot.... Oh WAIT! I have the script upside down.

It's good to see the summer is back here in Britain, I shall sum up the weather with just one simple word "SLOOOSH"

Lucky I don't *need* to ride a bike today... unluckly I did anyway and it rained heavily for most of the oddly short 20mile route and it was obviously windy too (according to my records for the 196th day this year!)

I can bring you a dead sheep update: It now has no eyes and it's middle bit's looking ready to be pecked open by the birds. (and I swear I saw a sheep having a nibble of it, too)

That's That Done.

KHS Solo One Single Speed Rivington

Today I finished the 'ride for a year' thingy, it seems to have been 366* days, not sure how that works, but that's what the computer says, anyway, 13th Aug 06 was the last day I didn't ride, so today is the end of a complete year, no matter how you look at it.

KHS Solo One Single Speed Rivington

In typical fashion, I got rained on, the wind was blowing at about 20mph and I ripped another bead from another NBX and got the tube to explode like a gunshot - ace - It happened just as I was climbing to the Pike for the second time, so I decended on an entirely flat tyre, and did my best to protect the new tube from exploding.

There was a smelly dead sheep I had to pass twice- too, that wasn't too nice, I could taste the decaying matter in the air.

Boring stats coming later on about my year of cycling.

* oh I see it was rounding up the hours.

KHS - The First Week (111miles)

08 Aug 2007 at 14:17
KHS Solo One - Winter Hill

Still not happy with the build of this bike, the forks feel odd after 104 consecutive rigid fork rides (just too bouncy), the front loses grip very easily in corners (longer stem might sort this), the softtail 'shock' clearly needs greasing up as it's sticking. It rides like you have a flat rear tyre, not sure if that's good or not, after riding rigid for so long any bike with any suspension would probably feel like a big jelly.

[Very windy, cool, 26miles, Very hard work - I was almost wishing I had 29inch wheels]
