42 mles on the boneshaker, 2 crashes when the bike decided to go a different direction that I was steering.. got to love a bike with rear wheel steering... probably the last ever KHS ride.

Knackered now. averaged 12.4mph, not bad given how hard it is to ride the bike up anything.

Ner Ner Ner Ner Nine

Finally managed to get back on the road after what seems like endless bad days. Today wasn't great, still windy, however, the new tyres on the Roadster seemed pretty damn grippy (until the last corner when I hit a manhole cover and I nearly got punched by the tarmac again) - they really grip, I hit a roundabout with a pretty hard lean and didn't slip, then hit another corner hard enough I managed to keep about 18mph all the way around with the bike acting uncharacteristically stable. Possibly swapping back to the Easton Circuit front wheel helped too.

I got severely punished by the thick-humid air and hard wind which blew my legs apart like they were made from matchsticks. I just had to dig in and get on with it, but it wasn't fun at times.

Extra! Forgot to say, got a puncture about 4 miles from home, probably a thorn or something, then, predictably the Blackburn Mini Pump broke again, because it's shit DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE - THEY ARE SUPER RUBBISH - luckly I managed to borrow a pump from a passing rider, a Specialized Air Force, really really nice action, pumped the tyre faster than the Blackburn ever did.

Full Yellow Shin

25 Sep 2007 at 13:51

Evidence of last weeks's crash are still appearing, today I woke to a full yellow shin, and after today;s ride a big bruise arrived on my right inside knee... I'm half expecting the image of Christ to appear on my back soon!

Talking of today's ride.... my rear brake (Hope Mono Mini) entirely stopped braking about 10 miles from the end of th ride, yesterday's sub-poor conditions had erased most of one of the rear pads, and as there's a stuck piston, once I'd got half way though the backing plate today there was no chance of the pads contacting the rotor.

The wetness (5 days in the last 7 - if I was counting) has allowed me to anaylse the path dirt takes to the rear brake, I'm completely correct about the outside lower half (thanks also - MikeD) but it seems that it also deflects off the foot in into the inside edge of the rotor. So I can only conclude that people that don't blow thogh pads liek crazy in the wet aren't pedalling hard along flat fast sections.

Oh an it was very windy again, oh joy joy joy.

This Might Be a Problem.

I hurt myself quite badly on 15th January 1992 when I slipped off a 4ft wall and landed knee caps first on the hard pavement.

It took me about 5 mins of lying on the floor to clear the pain and hobble back inside.

KHS Knee

Last night I hurt my knee again, the right one, I have no idea how, but putting weight on to it to lift off a chair, for example, hurt a lot. I thought it would go away in the night.. It didn't.

I've crunched the kneecap back into place about 7 time already today, but the pain's still ther and the patella (get me with my accurate bone names) keeps levering itself back up and I have to crunch it again.

Being stupid I still went for a ride, which kinda hurt ... a lot.

28.4miles | Dry. Breezy, Cool like Autumn, Busy.

... and my sternum (yeah! again with body part names) is also really sore, I can't push down with my left hand without a pain shooting across the ribs on my right side.. weird. I probably crashed my bike in a dream or something.

I really put my body though the wringer today. I was knackered from the get go, and with a strong wind the day wasn't going to be all that much fun, so I settled for punshing myself until mt whol body ached.

And BOY! did it ache!

So much my eye lids hurt!

Days of hurt are outnumbering days of nonhurt a lot at the moment, the relentless wind never gives you a chance to relax so you just have to dig in and grind away.

2008 better be less windy!

First ride over 40miles for the KHS - finally!
