Today's milestone is a big one, 10,000 flinking miles!

Typically the ride was a slippy, muddy, windy one.

300th Ride of the year - still very windy, cold, hills, 28miles... rode like a spanner

Finally managed to get back on the road after what seems like endless bad days. Today wasn't great, still windy, however, the new tyres on the Roadster seemed pretty damn grippy (until the last corner when I hit a manhole cover and I nearly got punched by the tarmac again) - they really grip, I hit a roundabout with a pretty hard lean and didn't slip, then hit another corner hard enough I managed to keep about 18mph all the way around with the bike acting uncharacteristically stable. Possibly swapping back to the Easton Circuit front wheel helped too.

I got severely punished by the thick-humid air and hard wind which blew my legs apart like they were made from matchsticks. I just had to dig in and get on with it, but it wasn't fun at times.

56.51miles (20.5avg) | V windy, Mild, 14°c, Some Drizzle

Extra! Forgot to say, got a puncture about 4 miles from home, probably a thorn or something, then, predictably the Blackburn Mini Pump broke again, because it's shit DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE - THEY ARE SUPER RUBBISH - luckly I managed to borrow a pump from a passing rider, a Specialized Air Force, really really nice action, pumped the tyre faster than the Blackburn ever did.

I knew I had to ride for somewhere around 2hours 30mins today if I wanted to break last year's ride total of 8443.62 miles.

It was flipping hard work though, the air was thick and slow, making the slight wind more of an issue. The bike, well, was crap as normal, losing grip a lot, and giving my a surprise when the front wheel slid out about 10inches at 30mph, stupid bike.

With 53miles in the bank I got back home, and discovered, I had, indeed broken last year's total.. by HALF A MILE. YEAH!!!!

So there we go, 8444 miles and 3.5 months to go.

53.13 (20.51avg) | Cool, Humid, Wind, Overcast.

Ping! 8k on the clock for '07

Horrible weather today, wet windy, and more wetness, the bike was all over the place, slipping around like an eel at a disco.

Knee still sore, but I was so cold after about 40 mins I didn't really notice. I could have done with my 'baffle' today, blazing though one of the two rear pads in double quick time.. the other's fine because of the sticky or stuck piston.

33.4 miles | Very Wet, Very Windy, Cold
