HA!

10 Mar 2010 at 15:16

Last year I false started on ride 1 with an exploded bottomr bracket and a limp home, this year didn't start much better.

Hopefully I'll have a new frame (gash colours, but cheap) by Friday, so could be mtb on Saturday)

Before that happened, I was sure I put the wrong cog on the bike, it felt way over geared and just horrible, everything felt wrong, I felt wrong, corners wrong, hurting like mad as my dormant bike muscles gasp for blood and oxygen to wake them from their 93 day sleep.

200 more days of today's weather would be perfect, though (but less wind, that was a pain)

hasty replacement purchased, another bloody inbred, at least their cheap (shame the graphics on them are terrible now).

Marathon Man

06 Mar 2010 at 15:51

It was inevitable that this is where things were going, today was the day, load up on protein and carbs, set the alarm for 8 (reasonable time for my new lazy self), get set, go!

NEVER RUN A MARATHON DISTANCE< IT HURTS TOO MUCH, MORE THAN YOU WOULD THINK, MORE THAN YOU WOULD WANT, MORE THAN ANYTHING YOU'VE EVERY EXPERIENCED.

That said, I can claim to have done one now, I could have been faster, could have been slower, 4:15 with 20 or so of talking to a friend.

I reckon I'll be able to walk again by next Saturday... maybe, don't quote me that.

Hello, Ran

02 Mar 2010 at 12:11

First Tuesday run that hasn't been in the snow for a few weeks (good grief that sentence is appalling)

Car, Top Barn, AICR, Pike (as someone made those steps steeper?), George > Jon's, Laura's Stables, Forest for Life, Steep Slippy Bit to George, Sue's Field, F4L Again, LS Again, Cross Jon's, Down Farm Climb, Back o' School, Top Barn, Magnetic Field, Reservoir, Lower Barn, Car.

Absolutely delightful conditions once I'd stopped and realised it was lovely, it could have been snowing and I've not had noticed such is the amount of attention I pay to things when I'm sporting.

Word To Ya Muvva!

Post just for the sake of a post.

Road bike has no wheels now, they're destined for the CX bike (3 cross), so new road wheels required, which look to be a pr of Pro-Lite things for not much money, until I win the lottery and get some carbon hoops (i.e. never).

CX bike will be mostly stuff from the Roadster, PX will have Ultegra/105/Dura Ace mix, with 172.5 cranks (because I have them, but ultimately replaced with normal sized cranks with proper rings - Ultegra again).

Building hasn;t happened because it's so cold and the miserable stretch of weather (currently at 12+ weeks) continues. I can see the hill's covered in snow again.

Footwatch, because I know you care

I've not worn shoes since Tuesday in an attempt to let my foot magically heal (no shoes means the pixies can get at it to repair things (that's how medical matters work isn't it?)) you have no idea how desperate I am to run properly on Saturday.

Road Bike, Costing Money, Excited

13 Feb 2010 at 16:13

It starts of simple enough, remove road bike from box, build up, ride.

Simple as me, so, yeah, very simple, except when Matt's need to change things occurs

New brakes require, new bars, new stem, new cages, new cranks (maybe), new seat clamp, carbon wheels being lusted after.. sigh.. at least I've saved on 3 months of brake pads, bottom brackets and tyres this winter.
